We've done a decent amount of recording to prepare for this, so we'll still have some podcasts with Echo and Brendan coming out over the next while, and even Echo, Brendan and me. We are going to have more podcasts with Brendan and Gail like the last pirate podcast and probably get a wider variety of voices on the site week on week too.

That said, please don't get too sentimental because Brendan is already angling for a beach vacation and at this rate we might have to give him one. :)

Quick note that we're adding audio support to private vocabulary lists today (update scripts are currently running...). So if you add lesson vocabulary to your private vocabulary list, you should see a small play button appear on your vocabulary page that will let you play the audio for that vocabulary.

There are some limitations here: not every word will have a recording to start -- just those from lessons where recordings already exist. And we're still planning to expand our audio repository to get everything else recorded over time, but hopefully this is a useful starting point.

Best,

Thanks guys,

We've had a lot of fun doing all the dialogues for this one. The first lesson -- an advanced discussion of the film -- is going to come out a bit later this morning. There's no dialogue for that one, but we'll have the usual annotated texts, vocabulary lists, etc. for the other lessons as usual.

Year three... here we come. :)

@brianb983, Dave and daniel.nalesnik

Just a quick note to let you all know we've just released our the first version of our iPhone/iTouch HSK study software. The application is free and available for download directly from the App Store. It has almost 2000 questions at all levels of difficulty:

http://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/hsk-test/id382098899?mt=8

Another step in our efforts to push together a much more comprehensive and cross-platform system for helping people with test preparation, but also Chinese learning more generally. If you guys have any feedback on usability or ways we can improve it, please let me know. The next version of our site should have more integrated support for mobile applications, so we're interested in hearing how people use this stuff and what suggestions for improvements people have.

Best,

Quick reminder that today is the last day for our $399 for 4 months of one-on-one tutoring. If you've been thinking about taking a regular Chinese class, don't miss this. At this special price our University program is less expensive than an equivalent offline course. It will give you a lot more individual attention, tons of speaking practice, and happens to be the most convenient way to learn as well.

We don't generally include advertising materials in our lessons, so I wanted to post a reminder here that the deadline is counting down. And as mentioned above, we do offer a free trial class to everyone interested. So if you'd like to really improve your Chinese and are considering taking a class be sure to write Echo by midnight (your time) to request a free class. As of tomorrow, we're back to full price.
